THE PATRIOTS LEAGUE GAME CONTINUES MONDAY EVENING
The Patriot League game continues Monday with four games on ESPN + and one on CBS Sports Network. Colgate returns to action against undefeated Army West Point at 6 p.m. for the first of four ESPN + games. At 7 p.m., Loyola Maryland puts their two-game winning streak on the line against Bucknell, the undefeated Navy goes to Lafayette, and Lehigh hosts Holy Cross. LEADERS OF THE MEN’S BASKETBALL STATUS OF THE PATRIOT LEAGUE
Loyola Maryland junior full-back Cam Spencer is the Patriot League’s leading scorer (18.4 points per game) and has an assists ratio of 3.8, the fifth-highest scoring in the NCAA DI. Bucknell senior goaltender Andrew Funk is the league’s second scorer (17.9 points per game), while Colgate senior goaltender Nelly Cummings is third (17.5 points per game). Boston University graduate student forward Sukhmail Mathon posted eight double-digit rebounds to lead the league to rank 21st in the nation with 9.7 rebounds per game. Lafayette junior center Neal Quinn (7.9 rpm) and senior Holy Cross forward Gerrale Gates (7.6 rpm) rank second and third in the league, respectively. Loyola Maryland senior goaltender Kenneth Jones is the league’s leading assists (5.1 apg), while Quinn de Lafayette (4.2 apg) and Colgate senior goaltender Tucker Richardson (4.1 apg ) complete the top three.

NAVY LEADS LEAGUE OF PATRIOTS IN NCAA MEN’S BASKETBALL NET RANKING
Navy leads the Patriot League to 92nd in the most recent NCAA Men’s Basketball NET rankings. Patriot League preseason favorite Boston University is second among League teams, placing 194th. 2020-21 League finalist Loyola Maryland is ranked 222nd, with defending champion Colgate placing fourth in the League at 228th. Army West Point (245th) rounds out the League’s top five in the NET rankings. The 2021-2022 season marks the fourth year of the NCAA Assessment Tool (NET) ranking, which replaced the RPI as the primary team assessment tool.

Patriot League Composite Men’s Basketball Schedule

JALEN RUCKER LEADS THE ARMY TO A QUICK START
West Point Army sophomore guard Jalen Rucker scored 20 or more points to guide the Black Knights to a 3-0 league start, their best start since the 2013-14 season. The 2020-21 All-Rookie selection, from Baltimore, Md., Is tied with Loyola Maryland junior guard Cam Spencer with 21.3 points per game to lead the Patriot League to scoring in the League game. Rucker is also tied for a high of 3.7 assists in that span.

RETURNED LEAGUE MATCHES ANNOUNCED
Rescheduled dates for three Patriot League men’s basketball games have been announced, with the American hosting Lafayette on Monday, Jan.24 (7:00 p.m.) in a game originally scheduled for Jan.4. The Eagles travel to Colgate on Monday, February 21 (TBD) in a game previously scheduled for Friday, January 7. Lafayette will host Colgate on Jan.31 (6:00 p.m.) to make up for the postponed match on Jan.1.

WINNING WAYS FOR THE KEY TO NAVY DEFENSE
Navy leads the Patriot League and is 17th in the NCAA DI in defense (59.3) while limiting opposing infractions to a 0.404 field goal percentage. Head coach Ed DeChellis’ Mids held three opponents 40 points or less, including 33 points, the league’s lowest, to win a 47-33 decision over Radford (Nov. 20). Navy then held-No. 25 Virginia at 58 points in the program’s first win over a ranked opponent since 1986. The Mids have won nine of their last 11 games, including a 3-0 start to the league where they held two teams with less than 60 points. The Mids go to Lafayette on January 10.

RAIDERS AMONG THE 3-POINT LEADERS IN THE NCAA
Colgate leads the Patriot League and ranks 14th in the NCAA DI with a .390. Percentage of field goals at 3 points. The Raiders are also ninth in the nation with 10.7 points scored at 3 points per game. Cummings is eighth nationally (0.478) in a 3-point percentage. Senior guard Oliver Lynch-Daniels (0.486) is third in the league, while junior guard Ryan Moffatt (0.408) is 10th. Graduate guard Jack Ferguson (.382) is currently 16th in the league after finishing first in 3-point field goal percentage last season (.507).

MCCOY CLIMBING LEAGUE SCORING LIST; WHYTE JOINS THE 1000 POINTS CLUB
Boston University graduate guard Javante McCoy recently passed former Boston University teammate Max Mahoney to place in the top 30 on the League’s career scorers list. He is one of the league’s leading scorers this season with 16.7 points per game, giving him 1,588 career points. McCoy is one of two active men’s basketball players in the league with over 1,000 career points. His teammate Walter Whyte eclipsed 1,000 career points in the Terriers’ loss to Loyola Maryland on Jan. 7.

MATHON CLIMBING CAREER REBOUND LIST
Boston University graduate student forward Sukhmail Mathon has climbed to No. 25 on the league’s career rebound list. He posted a career-high 18 board performance in a win over Bucknell on Jan. 1. Mathon is 9.7 board average in the league, 21st in the NCAA DI. He’s 21 rebounds from passing Lehigh legend CJ McCollum (696) to enter the career league top 20.
