Opelika Police Attempt to Identify Credit Card Theft Suspect, Ask Public for Help


OPELIKA, Alabama (WRBL) – The Opelika Police Department is investigating a report of credit card fraud and is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

On April 8, 2022, at approximately 5:35 p.m., the suspect entered Hobby Lobby, located at 2570 Enterprise Dr., Opelika, Alabama, and stole a wallet from a shopping cart.

The suspect then used a credit card from the stolen wallet to purchase several items from Best Buy located at 2147 Tiger Town Parkway.

Surveillance video released by the police department shows the suspect wearing a gray hat, glasses, a long-sleeved blue shirt and jeans as he enters Hobby Lobby.

According to Opelika police, surveillance video shows the suspect changed his appearance and was wearing a red hat and light-colored long-sleeved shirt before entering Best Buy.

Opelika police said the suspect left the scene in an unknown black SUV.
